This landscape was a temporary installation at England’s National Arboretum. It was a simple composition relying on dirt, sky, grasses, and a praise-worthy tree — the largest Sycamore Maple in all of England.

We imagined hanging a topographic “medallion” around this champion tree and saw the medallion as a simple crescent, framing the majestic tree and setting it apart from the rest of the grove.

Reaching a height of 4 meters, the sweeping, hand-crafted crescent created an intimate amphitheater that encouraged visitors to pause and consider a natural wonder.

I like to think that, with Limelight, we revealed a landscape, more so than built one.
